Public hearing to hear citizen’s comments for proposed:
1. 2010-2011 property tax rate of .8250/$100.00. (Maintenance and Operations Rate will be .4235 and Interest and Sinking Debt Rate will be .4015). 2. 2010- 2011 Budget

4. EXECUTIVE SESSION:
Executive Session to be conducted in accordance with the Open Meeting Act, as authorized by the Texas Government Code, Section 551.074 Personnel Matters. Shall any vote be required it shall be made at the open meeting covered by the notice upon reconvening from executive session.
Discussion regarding annual performance reviews for the City Secretary, the Chief of Police and the Director of Public Works.

5. COUNCIL BUSINESS – OPEN SESSION:
Consider and take action on any and all matter relating to matters discussed in Executive Session, as necessary. (a). Office of the City Secretary – annual performance review

(c). Office of Public Works – annual performance review
6. New Business:
(A). Budget Workshop to discuss and take necessary action on the 2010-2011 operating Budget.

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase
The City of Honey Grove will hold a public hearing on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by -3.407095 percent (percentage by which proposed tax rate exceeds lower of rollback tax rate or effective tax calculated under Chapter 26, Tax Code). Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property and the tax rate that is adopted.
The first public hearing will be held on August 26, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at HONEY GROVE - CITY HALL.
The second public hearing will be held on September 1, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at HONEY GROVE - CITY HALL.
The members of the governing body voted on the proposal to consider the tax increase as follows:
FOR: Alderman Lane, Alderman Beavers, Alderman Dixon, Alderman Stephens AGAINST: none PRESENT and not voting: Mayor Harold Roberts ABSENT: Alderman Weems
The average taxable value of a residence homestead in the City of Honey Grove last year was $55,243. Based on last year’s tax rate of $0.825000 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed last year on the average home was $455.75.
The average taxable value of a residence in the City of Honey Grove this year is $55,757. If the governing body adopts the effective rate for this year of $0.854100 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $476.22.
If the governing body adopts the proposed tax rate of $0.825000 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $460.00.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearings and express their views.
